You're doing stem cell research? Yuck!
Actually though, I guess you are talking about human embryonic stem cells, not placental or adult stem cells.
Sometimes they create an embryo to get the stem cells from it (they take some-body's egg and some-body's sperm and put them together in the lab). Sometimes they take embryos that have already been made by couples trying to have a baby, but they made extra embryos, and now they don't want them all and won't let anybody else have them either, but they will let some "scientist" take their embryos to make stem cells with.
Either way, in my opinion, it shows great disrespect for the human embryo to use it this way, and I will never allow anything made from embryonic stem cells to be used on me. It's too much like cannibalism, and I don't need anything that badly.
Stem cells can also be gotten from placenta and from every human being. We all have our own stem cells which replace old cells as they die in our bodies. This would seem a much more practical and ethical source. If we can stimulate the regenerate our own stem cells, the DNA of which matches our own, we would be taking a better approach.
