Everybody has House elections, but only some states have Senate elections. Two senators per state, elected for six years, staggered so that one third of the Senate is elected every two years means that one third of states don't vote for the Senate while the other two thirds do. The states take turns sitting out--if your state doesn't vote now, your senator will be up for reelection in 2008, and the other senator in 2010.

Considering it's midterms, as far as I know every state has at least a Representative running, and most likely several local elections. The yahoo map is not showing a lot of election results right now because polls are still open across the country and the votes are only about 2-10% reported in states that the polls have closed. State reps run every 2 years, so every state will have some elections.
Basically yahoo is being smart and not projecting anything until they get actual reports (unlike the news stations).

Not all states have Senate or Governor's races. The House Race map doesn't have any "No Election" states. Click on the state and the results (so far) for the House races will appear to the right of the map.

Actually every state is holding elections, what you are referring to is that not every state has senate seats up for grabs (election) currently I think it's about only 33 (Correct me if I am wrong) Senate seats up for grabs. Senators has 6 year turns and there are different senate seats up for election every 2 years. Contrary to this EVERY year House seats are up for election as their terms are only for 2 years. It's a bit complicated I know. =P

It is possible that their congressional and senatorial seats are filled, as are their gubernatorial and local seats. It is also possible that they have no initiatives or referendums on the ballot.

But, I rather doubt it. All the polls are not yet closed. ; )
