My son bought a used computer. How do we get rid of all of the junk out of it. We did the add/delete programs and then went and defraged it but it is still full of junk. Help Please.

Create A new user with adminstator rights.Download a free Antivirus and Window Defender. This will get rid of the spyware and Virus junk. Now goto the Window Defender and use the Program Explorer and Disable all the program that you don't want to run. Now delete all the other accounts. Find there files and delete them also Right Click, Start, Explore, Documents and Setting Now delete all the user except Admin, All USers and yours...Now you should be pretty Clean...

The best way to clean is format ur hard drive. U will be able to remove all junks and stuff that left there. But make sure u know how to install Windows back and have all the drivers and software u need.

You could try the System Restore which takes you back to a time when your computer was working good. Go To:
start
programs
accessories
systems tools
system restore
This process is completely reversable. And does not remove your personal files. Just go back one checkpoint at a time until your puter is working good again.

If you got a recovery CD, rebuild it from scratch.

If you did not get one, check if there is a way to build one.

That is the best thing to do.
