Actually this sounds better then the fight would be.
Even at Super Saiyan level Goku would not be able to defeat Superman, let alone kill the Man of Steel. In sheer power Superman might not equal Goku, but he wins the durability category. Goku's skin (even at SS level) has been punctured by sharp rocks and metal. Superman is much more invulnerable. Superman has gone toe to toe with beings capable of destroying entire solar systems... Someone on par with Kid Buu or Broly. But lets not forget that Goku's secret weapon (and most powerful one) is the Genki Dama or Spirit Bomb. And this wouldn't work on Superman since it has no effect on those with a pure heart. And lets face it... Big Blue is as pure hearted as DC's heroes come!
And that is why Kal-El wins over Kakorott.

superman might be stroung and invonrable but goku has lots of power and martial arts training, plus the more goku fight the stounger he gets so at first he wouldn't be as stroung as superman but after a while he would be able to hurt the man of steel and eventuall use a kamahamaha and ether destroy him or send him into a sun and some superman have been destroyed by suns before
