people are impressed that i dont use a pick, so i guess i would say yeah. although it kinda hurts when you first start to play if you dont use a pick.

It depends on who you're trrying to impress. Finger picking done well can be very impressive. ("Hey, man, can you play 'Stairway to Heaven?''') But a speed metal riff with a pick can open up eyes too. Even as a rhythm strummer you can look and sound good leading a sing-a-long.

I don't think so. When I play I do a combination. It depends on the song and sometimes I'll use both at once. I think it impresses non-musicians, but nobody else.

it depends. if you're playing something like stairway to heaven than obviously it looks way cooler if he fingerpicks it, but I mean if you start playing master of puppets, than yeah you would look pretty queer trying to fingerpick it.

the bloody hands look isn't one i personally find attractive. playing guitar, you already have callouses on your left hand, so why drag your right hand into it too? unless you absolutely cannot use a pick, use one. they were invented for a reason.

i really depends on the song, like if its all arpeggios it might be easier to finger pick. its not about impressing people, its about the sound!

personally i find finger picking has a better sound, no idea why, and generally a little harder, i find it impressive yeah, but most chicks wouldnt notice.

if he's a good singer, he could get away with just strumming while singing...I think that's hotter
