I've been in the same kind of administrative career for the last 10 years or so. I'm not sure working in an office is the right path for me, but I have no ideas what I could do. I do not have a degree and my only work experience is administrative. Is there such a thing as a career counselor for adults? How do you go about finding one? Thanks!

Thanks Sainati. I think I'd rather talk with someone who can maybe give me some insight. I haven't had any luck on my own trying to think of something. Thanks again!

I paid over three thousand dollars to a career counseling firm... save your money. Many of your local colleges offer the same services at a very reduced rate... whether you attend the college or not!

Yes, there are, try google for a career counselor in your area. Another possibiltiy is to go talk to someone at your local college, even community colleges have advisors that can arrange some type of personality assessment that can assist you, without obligation. Good luck, I know how you feel, I am in my early forties and still pondering what I want to be when I grow up! Seriously, though I have received some great direction from a psychology counselor as well as through my local college. Also, search online for mentors.

Working in an office does not have to be boring. I have worked in all different types of offices and basically ANY job will have an office. Find out what you like and once you decide what environment you want to be in, then go to find their office. Once you get a job in their office, you can learn the business from the inside and you have a better chance at learning the business.

ask a counselor at your local college...

also, look up the bureau of labor statistics - www.stats.bls.gov - and you'll find a briefing on almost any job in the US that you could possibly think of
