If your're old enough to have a baby, you're old enough to file for child support. Go the the district attorney in your city and they will help you with the paperwork. They have a special support division.

Alot depends on your state. I worked for child support enforcement in Savannah Ga. You are allowed to file child support here at any age, the problem you run into here is that the father of the child cannot be touched until the age of 18. I was one of 4 establishment officers in Chatham County. You cant even make the parents of the father do anything. In Georgia if you aren't married at the time of conception or birth even if he signed the birth certificate the presumed father is allowed a paternity test that the state will actually pay for. I would call the D. A. in your city and ask for the child support division and they will be able to tell you how it works in your state. Some states are very good and speedy and others are slow, slow and slow. I hope that everything works out.

I'm guessing you're a teen who's had a baby and you want to file for child support. As long as he's the father of your baby, which you'll have to prove...there is no age issue to how old you need to be to file for child support. Although, there might be an issue with your age when it come to being legally accountable for certain law issues; there are legal procedures and pages that need to be signed and you will need an adult there with you to sign the forms. Your parents can be involved in that part.

Seach online Child Support Procedures and you'll be able to find a government website specifically for your state to help you in the process of making a file.
