I have read from the forums that you should use sopa to stop the squeaking. I have checked the belts they seem to be in decent condition. Would using the engine degrease have caused the squeaking.

Soap works on properly adjusted V-belts. Does it have a serpentine belt? If it does has the spring tension-er ever been changed? Try applying a small amount of a spray lubricant to the spring tension-er shaft not the belt.

Yes, definitely. You might be able to shoot it with some carb cleaner to get it flushed and dried. WD-40 sometimes works. May need to replace the belt in the end. Hope the chemicals work though. Good luck.
