i tend to be uneasy about blood and the cutting open of animals. So basiclly the medical field of animals would not be an option.

There are very few jobs that involve a lot of direct contact with animals, and they are usually highly sought after. In a zoo, there is contact with them, but also a lot of maintance work such as cleaning up after them. Training domestic animals alsoinvolves a lot of contact, but most places do not allow a lot of cuddling, petting or any other things that people want to do with wild animals. go to a local animal shelter, or if you just want to be near them, a wild animal rehab center, you get some contact such as handling and moving, but no petting and the like.

I am kind of in the same boat... but my grades aren't close to high enough to get in to the vet program. I make almost as much as a vet tech now and I pick up trash at a college. I would say zookeeper would be the next most common route. These jobs are somewhat hard to come by from what I've been told. Another option would be to do field research but that is something that usually comes along with a Doctoral degree. As much as anything I always thought about opening a pet store in my home town but there is little market for that. It is hard to compete with companies like Petco and PetSmart. I suppose animal trainner would be another option but personally I enjoy animals for what they are, not what people want them to be so it doesn't really work for me :( I recommend to keep searching it on places like google and just try to find every possible option and keep in my mind the one that suites you best. I think I am going to go for field studies myself.

You might try doing some volunteer work at the local animal shelter. You would get some experience working with animals, and make some contacts with people who deal with animals. Plus do some good as well!!

Animal shelters, zoos, farms, animal breeder, kennel worker...any of those would be good. There are plenty more, I'm sure. I'm going to work in the zoo after I get my Bachelor's...3 and a half more years...

You could work at the zoo, at an animal sanctuary, or one of those people who goes out to the wild and observes animals.

How about a person that conserves animals (you know, saving them from extinction and stuff). Even better, how about working with dolphins?
