Private schools have the advantage of smaller classes, which means that students can work more closely with their teachers. Teachers can tailor their lessons to the learning style that best works for the student. We don't all learn the same, and when there are thirty kids in a class, the best that a teacher can do is teach to the majority. In a class of ten, you can spend time with each individual student.
Private schools also have the advantage of money. They can pay for the best teachers - the ones who are the most motivated, the best able to get the students interested. Teachers are (for the most part) in it for the love of teaching. That doesn't mean that they won't look for the best paying job that they can get.
Finally, it's almost a self-fulfilling prophecy. Students at private schools are expected to perform better, so they do. They work harder, and they are competing against others who are working harder.
Now, I think that there are some pretty fine public schools, and within the public schools there are some teachers and some students that are as good or better than any found in private schools. It's just that overall, private schools have a higher concentration of better teachers and more motivated students.

In general, private schools tend to be better, but it really depends on the district. In some school districts, the public schools are just as good acedemically as private schools... and cheaper. But, generally teachers are better and there are smaller class sizes, meaning more individualized education for a child. However, some parents are content with a public schools that offer opportunities at a "cheaper" price.

Private schools are better than public schools because the parents have to pay for a good education and back their children and help them all they can to achieve . Education is very important and strict discipline is necessary for students to give their Best at all times.

Honestly, basically it gives kids...how can I say this nicely...confidence that they are better than all of the other applicants for colleges, because there's quite a lot of...pride involved in going to a private school.
