Narrarator: The next day Lola goes to school.
Teacher: Wahh wahh wah wah wahh.
Lola: Psshh… Trey! I went to the park yesterday!
Trey: Great.
Lola: And I got carried away by a hot air balloon!

Lola: But then the balloon popped.
Trey: Great.
Lola: Do you know WHY the balloon popped?
Trey: When a balloon reaches a height where the inside air pressure is greater than the outside air pressure and the pressure exerted by the balloon's fabric, the balloon will burst.
Lola: Oh. Can you measure atmospheric pressure?
Trey: Yes. Atmospheric pressure is measured by a barometer, which is what you have.
Lola: So this measures atmospheric pressure?
Trey: Yes.
Lola: Is there atmospheric pressure underground too, or just above ground?
Trey: Atmospheric pressure is underground too. It increases with depth the further underground you go.
Teacher: Wah wah wahh wah wahh.
Lola: What’s the average air pressure at the surface of the Earth.
Trey: 1013.25 mil
