Generally there are three sources of audio drivers. The first is the computer manufacturer (if the audio device was pre-installed), the second is the sound card manufacturer (if you added the sound card to your PC), and the third is one of the driver download sites.
If the audio device was pre-installed on your PC, especially if it is integrated into the motherboard, get the audio driver from the PC manufacturer's support web site. I have had too many problems getting audio drivers from the audio chip manufacturer's site that are not quite compatible with my PC.
If you installed an audio adapter or a plugin audio device (USB or PCMCIA), then get audio drivers from the audio device's manufacturer's web site. Add-on audio devices are not usually as system-specific as are integrated audio devices.
If you download from a driver site, be sure to scan the downloaded driver for viruses (a good idea regardless of where you get the driver), and be sure to read the descriptions very carefully to get the right driver. There can be numerous small variations; some will work, some will sort-of work, and some will not work. If you are running Windows ME or XP, it is a good idea to create a restore point prior to installing.

Sure, not a problem. Just pop in on google.com and in their search box, type in ac97 audio and it will find page after page of places that you can download it from and at no charge in most cases. The files are also on your Original Windows CD that came with the computer. From the control panel, you can have it to remove the corrupted drivers and software and re-install it again. When asked where it can find the necessary drivers and/or software, tell it to check your cd rom drive. It will then take the needed files from the disk. Hope this helps. Larry Radio Shack
