We pay for our t.v. license then were fed shows encouraging us to call (costing yet more money) to vote people either on or off a show. Low budget T.V. starring has been or wannabe celebs is broadcast every night instead of quality programming, its just no brain television. Does anyone really watch this rubbish because they want to or do they watch it just because its all thats on and theres nothing else in this country to do that doesn't cost money. I'd love to hear your views

I would say out of all the T.V. channels to choose from you may be luck to find half a dozen programs to watch in a week. I think that we should be given a refund on the T.V. licence for all the cr*p that's on T.V. I hate it when a programme as a competition and they ask you to text the answer and the text cost £1.50 + what your mobile co charge for text. This is so that the mugs that text end up paying for a prize only one of them can win.

Agreed but it is the public who help dictate what is on the box.
X Factor, Big Brother & so on are absolutely dreadful but people do watch them. Talentless people performing to millions & an idiotic panel who haven't got a clue, it's almost insanity - but people watch & vote. It is the viewers fault. Shame on them!
These people know they can exploit the public on the basis that you can fool most of the people most of the time & do they do an excellent job.
For my part I do not watch this rubbish, I go out & see real talent when I can even though they may be performing to a few hundred people , it's the real world & real music. Simon, Sharon, & Louis have done what they can to ruin music - the later gave us Boyzone for instance - they were a disgrace.
As for Big Brother or I'm a Celebrity? Is the viewing public completely bonkers!!!!!!!!

I think that the overall standard of TV in Britain has gone down over the last few years.A lot of that is probably due to the competitiveness of the market. For example, the BBC now show the type of programs that you used to get on the other channels-they need the audience figures,so there's been a lot of 'dumbing down'...no offense to anyone meant by that.If you're selective though, you can still find some really good programs on Channel 4 and BBC2.BBC1 still produce some quality stuff too, like 'Planet Earth',but their standards have dropped considerably in my oppinion.

your right its absolute crap car crash TV if its not celebrity(and i use that word loosely) TV its reality wanna be a celebrity TV or crap quiz channels which are hosted by irritating morons and viewers ho seem to have the intellect of a damp beer mat, some of the answers they come up with"boys name beginning with A" someone said "Argonaut" what planet???? are we really paying all this money for a TV licence that churns out this crap and soaps, the only thing i like on TV is Torchwood.

And to think many years ago before all this celebrity, reality crap all the good dramas, serials and programmes all stations used to produce. If it hasn't got a question on it where u could win thousands by answering ABC questions or have "Celebrity" in it people don't wanna know.

Simple solution to your problem, get rid of your TV and don't pay for the licence any more. I rarely watch TV. I haven't regularly watched a TV show for about 2 decades. Now, however I'm watching Lost and Heroes and while lost has lost some of it's momentum, Heroes is a great show, kinda like the xmen.

tv has always been crap for like 5 years or so in britain. its a bloody joke. and if you thought things were bad right now, just wait until xmas comes. ba humbug as scrooge would say! - nothing but sheer dross, not to mention films which we've seen hundreds of times before. thank goodness, we have the internet and dvds, because lets face it, they are better than the shite on our screens.

if you feel that way dont watch the crap shows, watch quality or educational programming, there's plenty of it about, especially with all the discovery and uktv channels on sky and cable, watch discovery and see the programme "how its made" you'll be surprised at the processes some of the sillythings we take so much for granted go through to be manufactured.........
