There's nothing wrong with you hanging up first. They shouldn't be calling you anyways if you're on the Do Not Call list. It's there job to call you - offering all kinds of service and junk, but you have the right to hang up on them first as well. There's no right or wrong answer for this question.

I don't think it is wrong at all. In fact what I do is mess with them! I listen and let them go through their whole schpeil, make them think I'm gonna go for it, and then.... I tell them I'm not interested. Usually you can hear a little sigh, but, oh well. If they try to say something else I say "gotta go someone's at the door".
I'm sure that they are preeeettty pisssed at me then. I don't care, they are pushy and inconsiderate! and they always seem to call when we're sitting down eating dinner!!!!!

I usually tell then I'm on the other line and hang up the phone. Or I tell them to hang on for a minute then I walk away for about 10 minutes, usually they have hung up by then.

No, seriously think of them. They are getting paid to do this, they get paid if you pay attention or not. Sometimes when it is just a survey I stay on just to give them something to laugh about. The only thing that you might be denying them is a commission but you weren't going to buy what ever they were selling anyway...

I was one for a few weeks right out of high school. We were paid on commission and the more calls we made the more of a chance we had to make a sale. So I would say "no".

They'll call you when you are in the shower
They just won't let you rest
They get your attention in the worst way all day long
Oh yes!, they deserve to be Hanged Up High

Nope, certainly not. In fact, if more of us hang up on them, they might find another job. We should all do our part in eradicating telemarketing. And be proud of it.

no i do it! But keep in mind that if you hang up, they will put it in the computer that there was no answer, an the computer will keep generating your number. to stop this, just tell them to put you on the do not call list this is good for 1 year!
Good Luck!

No it is not wrong to hang up on telemarketers...What's wrong is if you don't mess with their heads before you do hang up.
