they don't get judged on the colour of their skin - a woman has never won the x factor - does that mean Britney Spears wouldn't win?

I don't mind if a black singer wins a competition provided he or she is good enough to win. I don't believe in quota representation such as the obligatory black winner or obligatory disabled finalist, I believe people should only progress according to real ability talent and skill.
So far the X factor this year isn't doing it for me at all. Especially ones who scream notes that don't belong anywhere in the background underpinning music and those who sing off key. The personalities also seem a bit on the thin side, so musically and charisma wise is zero. Star like performances also zero. Where have the talented gone?
This show is so devoid of anyone with any lasting or notable skill next year it is changing to allow children and other novelty acts to participate. This is it scraping the bottom of the pan.
The only good thing about this show is the free promotional marketing feature of the broadcast auditions and the heats where people are sent home. Resulting rejects may have a better career than the last five finalists.
Mary J Blige doesn't do it for me.

As most of the people who watch them and vote are the people who buy the most records! I've never heard of Mary J Blige so I'll use another example. Do you think Micheal Jackson would win! When he was black! The Age group also plays a big part. The older ones who dont sing Pop will always lose out to the younger ones because the older generation are not watching and voting! As the shows are looking for singers who they think can make it big time we know it isnt the singing but the popular appeal of the singer that wins! I like Black singers as well as white in my age group but I dont buy singles! Girls are the largest purchasers of them and the previous winners reflect that! Simon Cowl wants to sell records! Look at the prize they are aiming for! The only one who fits past winners is not favourite because he isn't a 'pop' singer! So whoever wins It will be a first on X factor>

yes, but only because she's crap and we've heard her material before.
It's not a colour thing though, it's a competition looking for a complete package - thats why it's called the X Factor.
It's sad but true that a lot of people will buy a record because they fancy the artist, you only have to read letters pages etc with little girls who sign their letters 'Mrs matt Willis' or something equally insane.
If Justin Timberlake went on the X- factor he wouldn't win either.
Why? Quite simple really. He's white but he sings the same old crap chucked about by black artists i.e. I'm wonderful, I have lots of bitches and ho's that I treat like sh*t, I have lots of money, look at my flash car, check out my mega buck jewellery, I hate the police and I use guns.
Sorry, but I think the only thing worse than this 'huge chip on their shoulder, I'm no longer a cotton picker' drivel that is so same old same old heard one you've heard them all black gangsta rap etc is white people trying to be black.
Just look at Tim Westwood as a case in point. What a dildo. No, infact a dildo is useful where Westwood is a waste of oxygen.
bet his parents back in the hood (Norfolk?) are mighty proud of him.
Honestly, X Factor USED to be a talent show in the same way Big Brother USED to be a reality show. Now it's just full of wannabees that just want to get on telly and be famous.
You only have to look at losers like Grace from BB and Saeed or whatever he was called from The Apprentice, they turn up for the opening of a letter if they think it will get them in the news.

let be honest now mary j had admitted herself that she dont have the best voice so prob not, now i love mary j (she is my fave female singer ever) the reason she is so popular is for the songs she writes.
i really dont think it has anything to do with being black what so ever, i think it has more to do with the majority of black singers on them shows tend top only sing r`n`b songs so only appeal to a r`n`b audience

So true!!
They really should leave off doing all these reality shows for a few years coz doing them all back to back for years on end means now they're really scraping the bottom of the barrel!!

Yes, the British public don't like to see any black person win. If it was left to the judges, you would get a black winner....when you allow the public to vote, they will vote on colour than talent.

yeah seen as she is poo! what a turd she is!
and hey....... there is only a very small percentage of people in the UKthat are black, are you really surprised that in a majority WHITE country, majority WHITE people win the talent competitions.
Im not racist but I hate this attitude - if we look at an african or carribean competition , i bet you wouldnt see loads of white people winning!
England/UK is made up predominantly of white people - who like to listen to white music - just like black people like to listen to black music - its what youre used to.
