Well, when I was younger, I was once mistaken for a boy. But it wasn't because I was trying to look masculine--it was because I had some androgynous features, my hair was mid-length (this was in the 70's so boys wore their hair longer like Shaun Cassidy) and my mom wouldn't let me wear makeup at the time. If a woman intentionally wear men's clothing, has a men's haircut, wear no makeup or jewelry, they are either attempting to look masculine, or at the very least, not at all feminine so if they are mistaken for a guy, then they really can't be upset about it.

Thats funny, i get this all the time also. Whats funny is my hair is short, but styled feminine and Im clearly a women. But people are blind, they dont pay attention to anything. I always think to myself, if I ever see a man that styles his hair like mine and ISNT gay, im gonna smack him! But seriously, when people say that to me, usually I just correct them, they usually feel totally retarded and apologize left and right. There have been times however that Ill say "Yes mam" to a man that called me sir, just to be an asss. They usually dont get it. lol.
One time, I was in a womens rest room, of course, since I am a women, and some lady commented to me that I was in the wrong restroom. I totally went off on her. I was like, "do u really think that I wouldnt have noticed all the women in here if I was a man? Open your eyes *****. " She was totally rude. Anyways, yeah, theres not much we can do about the ignorance in this world.
Heres an Idea! I think we should have lesbian restrooms! LOL.

it annoys me, simply because if people were really paying attention, they'd know I wasn't a guy. yes, I do have short hair (so do a lot of straight women!), but I do wear earrings, some makeup, bracelets. I don't wear skirts and dresses anymore, but I wear women's slacks/pants. some polos and sweaters I have are men's....but there are similar women's styles. I know I'm not the most femme gal, but I guess some would call me a dyke. but, again, if people were observant, they'd know! sometimes, I just pretend like I didn't hear them say "sir" and politely say "excuse me?" there are other times I might say the say thing but in a more annoyed tone. it really depends on who it is addressing me and what/how they say it. most just get really embarrassed and apologize.

When I was in my early teens people used to think I was a boy because I had short hair. It used to REALLY bother me. I got my ears pierced and it seemed to help. It doesn't happen anymore since I've been an adult and dress more femininely.
