Good question.
Going to the gym and taking care of your body is a good thing. But it's messed up when people are obsessed with physical appearance in themselves and others. It's pretty shallow. But I think there are plenty of heterosexual people who are obsessed with the same thing. So I don't think it's a negative comment on gay people as a whole, just on shallow people in general.
Regarding the bathhouse issue. It's not for me, and it's a little embarrassing to me, because I think that's the stereotype that people have of gay men. But really, it isn't that negative a statement in terms of what gay people are like. Is it that much worse than "t-itty bars" that heterosexuals go to? A lot of the times, those places are really just fronts for prostitution.....the women will go as far as they possibly can to provide sexual satisfaction to their customers.....Use your imagination as to what a woman might do while performing a lap dance.....
Also, it's not as if heterosexual men wouldn't engage in the same activity if they could, but with women.
And come to think of it, an awful lot of the men at bathhouses and sleazy venues in general are heterosexual men who are just horny and will hump anyone, closeted married men who are afraid to form any relationships with someone of the same gender, or married bisexual men who cheat on their wives using being bi as an excuse.
What about all of the brothels in Nevada..which are legal? Or all of the illegal brothels the world over? Or the red light district in Amsterdam. The vast majority of these places cater to heterosexuals. Yet no one ever uses this as a justification to deny civil rights to heterosexuals. Or to stereotype them.

Hmmmm. I would say have to say no. Think of it this way. Str8 people have hookers and they have bath houses and "gym kings" as well but you don't see them being stereotyped because of a few people.
That's like saying all black people can play basketball or that all white people golf. Being stereotyped by the masses does not make it a majority rule nor a fact. Some people act the way they do for unxplainable reasons.
I figure as long as you present yourself the way you want to be viewed and seen then the "stereotype hype" will have little to no effect on you. To discredit homosexual men/women is to discriminate them as well. People will judge you based on others no matter what since everyone likes to label and classify everyone to a social.group. I look at it as great way to educate people and show them that not everyone fits the description of a stereotype. It's always fun to hear them say "I didn't know that."
I don't find them a disgrace becuase I don't know anyone who goes to places like bath houses and I certainly don't know any "gym queens" because I'm too busy doing my workout and having fun with friends. If that is their lifestlye then kudos. I can look above it and still live my life peacefully.

Not particularily.
We're talking about private establishments. Its once men take bath house activity out in public is it problematic.
Discredit? Disgrace? We're not the Junior League. Its a SEXuality not a teadance (sorry about pun), and not everyone is going to behave as gentlemen should. We dont see "swingers" and think they discredit heterosexuals.
Those that want to find fault with us would not think better of us if every bath house and "gym" disappeared tomorrow.

Some people say gay people are a disgrace and a discredit.
Asking a question that, instead of asking 'what do you think' instead asks if a particular type of gay person is a disgrace, a discredit, and a "queen" is being just as judgmental as right wing evangelicals are to gay people in general. What other people do in their private lives that doesn't effect me is none of my business. The only thing I consider "a disgrace and discredit to gay men" is a behavior of emphasizing our differences instead of uniting against anti-gay bigotry.

do you think serial killers disgrace/discredit white males over 30? Every race, religion, culture and sexual preference is going to have people that disgrace/discredit them, but I don't think that bath house and gym queens are, in this case. They aren't really doing anything wrong, everyone is going there for the same reason right??

What a loaded question.
In short, no. No more than any promiscuous straight person is a disgrace to straight men.
Most bathroom, park, and rest stop sex arrests are people who claim to be straight... how does that reflect on anybody other than those committing those acts?
No group of people should be judged by the most deviant examples among them. That is just wrong.

Why would you peg these guys as negative??? Each of us is allowed to do as we wish (so far, Bush has not declared this to be a security threat...that comes tomorrow). Do I go to a bath for sex? No. But you can if you like...I don't care. Do I hang around a gym more than to work out? No...but you can. Personally, I would love to have the time to do some of these things, but I don't. I think these people are doing what they want, have the freedom to do it, and certainly don't need me to judge them for their folly. To each his own. How would there actions reflect on me? Just tell them to come over to my house and share the dirt with me when they are finished for the day...much easier way to get the news than by witnessing. :-)

No, of course not. As long as someone is being true to his/herself, I say rock on! Just because you fit a stereotype doesn't mean anything bad; as long as you aren't forcing yourself into the stereotype, then it's fine to be a raging, flamboyant queen, a full-on man-hating butch dyke, a nerdy Asian, a big black thug. All stereotypes are based on a grain of truth- it's how they get started. The only reason they're bad is that they try to make universal some aspect that is not universal. That's it.

I doubt the Catholic Church even has a place on the sexuality of Da Vinci. needless to say the object is out to attack Brown's interpretation of Da Vinci and not Da Vinci himself. With that being suggested, and this author does not seem making a element that Da Vinci wasn't gay yet somewhat that Da Vinci being gay isn't a good sufficient foundation for Brown's conspiracy theories.

I can only assume what these people are,and if my assumption is correct yes I belief them to be a discredit to Alternative Lifestyles, and to the general health of society as such highly promiscuous multiple partnered relations have no honor, and of course in these days highly volatile to deadly ills.
Such also only give fuel to the bashers, and religious fanatic hate groups.
