Does my 1993 Mitsubishi eclipse have an internal or external oil pump in/on the engine? Its the 1.8l SOHC 4 cyl.

i own a repair shop,and if im not mistaken it has a external pump on it,its been a while since i have worked on one of them they don't tear up that much,but im pretty sure its external,,good luck i hope this help,s.

OK what the heck? all stock motors have oil pumps and most all have them inside. Even yours is on the crankshaft and pick up is in the oil pan. If your engine is suffering from low oil pressure you first need to test the oil pressure. If low replace the engine. 15 year old Mitsubishi engines wear out too. All of the engine bearings can get loose and loose pressure over the lack of oil changes and time and stress of high rpms.

You can add an aftermarket oil cooler with an external pump to a vehicle, but no car comes from the factory with an external oil pump.
