in small quanitys it is fine but not in large quanitys. Like 1ml is bad

Metallic mercury is difficult to absorb through your skin. You'd have to play (be exposed maybe is better way to say that) along time to do any killing of yourself.

Indeed, as one person answered, about a gram (about the weigh of a ml) would do some pretty serous damage. Hg can, however, build up in your fatty tissue. That isn't so bad as long as you don't someday go on a crash diet, or for others, become a part of the Donner Party II.

Mercury is poisonous. If enough of it is absorbed it will kill you.

Um, Even if it doesn't, I wouldn't recommend too much exposure. It's proven to cause quite a few problems.
