At the foot of royal street by the mall the river is maybe 3 feet down the dike on one side and the city street seems to be about 10 feet down the other side so I'd guess about 7 feet.

Today, it averages 8 feet below sea level and is still dropping at the rate of a quarter inch ... found in rural areas, is for a 1-in-1,250-year flood. All are many times safer than New Orleans ever was.
