My seven year old son who is in Year 2 has a news day once a week. We are running out of interesting subjects...any suggestions? Trips or outings are good, but we don't have one every week. He says a lot of the kids just bring in their latest toy, but I don't think that's very interesting at all. I would appreciate some good ideas.

I am in Australia and the Wiggles and Hi5 are huge for kids at the moment. Breaking news this week has been that the yellow Wiggle has had to leave the band due to a mystery illness...if you check the internet you can find out more.

Hi5 has a new person because Kathleen has had a baby, she had it about 6 months ago, but they still show eposides with her still in it.

This way they are relating real news events with something they are interested in.

If your son likes cars, he talk about his favourite type of car, and how cars work. I know this sounds far fetched, but my four year old son told me the other day that the wheels make the car move, and the engine makes the wheels move. In simple terms he got it right, without my help.

My point is to tap into what he is interested in and research it to find out what is new and what he knows....

there is always something interesting in the news. Isnt he in the NEWS crew, so why doesn't he talk about current events that arent too violent. Be cognizant of the news. Something my 7th grade teacher always told me.
