I think a lot! We all make plans but then something comes along and before you know it things are going in a completely different direction. This is due to the fact that we can not control everything in our lives. So, I would say the statement is very true. I know I experience it all the time. I can think of very very few times that I planned something and it went just the way I planned it. Even small details, when you think about it for just a few minutes you probable plan more than you realize. Think about something as simple as going to the restroom at work, did you plan on your boss being the the bathroom or passing by your friend at her/his desk and they are upset about something or there being a line at the door? Its funny but we really see these things happening in our mind. So rare is it that they happen the way we plan or want. Good question!

I could give you a cliche in saying something like "If live to plan then you can plan not to live." There is a balance you have to for which to strive. For example, I plan to drink a beer after this. Am I living or not. I believe I am. If you let life just happen to you then you will miss intentionally living your life.

It is true that we cannot predict what will happen to us at any time, while we are making other plans. I have witnessed this several time in war when someone in my company were making big plans and was killed hours or minutes later.

A heck of a whole lot. Life is the moment the planning we do takes us away from that.

A lot of truth, I think. We're so busy "living" that sometimes we forget how to truly live.
