Some of the smartest animals are as follows:
1. Dolphins- they have sophisticated communication systems using sonar, complex social hierarchies, etc.
2. Elephants-- they have a very long memory
3. Parrots- the ability to mimic human sounds
4. Chimps, baboons, gorillas-- we share between 95 to 98%
of the same DNA with these primates.
5. Hyenas- one of the most successful predators in the world

Probably dolphins or whale, definitely NOT MAN!!! I do not know of any other animals that kill or maim just for the hell of it. Over the centuries mankind has done a lot of really dumb things. Not the least of which is genetic engineering of animals and plants, destruction of rain forests, polluting the planet. I don't think any animals are capable of hate!

That question is bias, as animals tend to have difference in their smartness. In my opinion, because humans rule with compleate supremacy, that monkeys would be the 'smartest' animal. Unless there's one inside the core of Earth...

I'd say chimpanzees are the smartest animals since they have 98% DNA similarities to humans.

Whales and dolphins: Some say they are more intelligent than humans. If they had opposable thumbs, we would be confined in controlled areas and thrown the odd snack, while whales and dolphins studied us. I doubt very much they'd want to eat us - too highly acidic, full of toxins and basically unhealthy.

Depends on what type of pet you want.
The African Grey Parrot has an IQ of about a 5 year old human. Can speak a 100 word vocabulary and know when to say things. Like when I come home from work...."Daddy's Home"... "Hello Daddy"...."Come a little closer".... "Give daddy sugar".... Then he looks down at the dogs and says "Wanna go outside?" "Come on girls, let's go outside"... then when they start running around excited about going outside...he Looks at them and laughs..."hahahahaha". It's absolutly funny!
