Just about every time I cook for people...it does not really annoy me but it does feel good when people help!

I wouldn't do it again. It's just rude not to offer to help. If the offer is declined that's different. I just usually jump right in and help. That's the common sense thing to do as well as being gracious.

nope, i usually have family get togethers though, and everyone helps put everything away and helps with the dishes too. My family is nice like that.

Yes, but a proper hostess/host does not wash the dishes while his/her guests are still there......you should leave your dishes in the kitchen and wait until they leave to take care of them.
You are inviting your guests for dinner to have conversation and relax not to work!
It would be very rude for anyone to ask their guests to help in the kitchen or allow their guests to help in the kitchen...your guests should be enjoying themselves and so should you!
