for example mostly websites for Brazil have name which ends with .com.br while for India it ends with .co.in ?

different countries have different extensions!!

because every state is entitelt to the internet adresses they can have and .br stands for brasil and brasil as a state gets the money for that domain Since there is too many states in this world not all of them could come under .com

web sites that have any other letters after .com usually refer to the country the web site is in. for example if you type yahoo.com.mx is going to reject you to the homepage in mexico.

I never heard of a com.uk or something. I know that all country domain names are .co.country for example .co.uk or .co.in.

".com" is NOT a country code, it means "commercial", indicating that it is a business owned site. It may be anywhere.

you just basically answered your own question. so that visitors know what country that site belongs to and in some cases, the langauge its in.
