I don't cringe but it did take me a while to figure out the variations like LMAO, ROFL (still not sure about that one .... think I know !!)

I'm amazed & disappointed that they don't have those little yellow faces with all the different expressions - I thought they were compulsory for every type of Forum & they are soooo much fun !!!!

I asked this some time ago ~ and still 'I cringe.'

There are others, written and spoken that has the same effect ~ like on TV tonight I heard a women say (a number of times) "At this point in time,'' and it gets to me.

Sash.

Admittedly, it's not a refined or proper expression, but for chatting on the internet, I've come to accept and even enjoy it as expressing good natured humor.

I HATE IT!!!!!

Honestly, it's like typing tourettes though, as although I really hate it so so much (coz half the time I'm not laughing out loud whatsoever, merely smiling to myself!!) i find myself writing it ALL THE DAMN TIME!!!

How annoying - lol!

I hate it! A cheesy attempt to be chummy with you. It is used too often. Never sure which meaning 'Lots of love' or 'laughing out loud'. Kinda contradictory phrases wouldn't you say!

Oh Dear !! I have gone through life thinking that LoL was an expression of endearment, I thought it meant " Love of my life"

Yep, looks that way.

After all it's a lot easier quicker to type LoL than to type
'tee hee',
'giggles',
'hahahah',
'evil laugh',
'cackles insanely'.
'chortle'
or even
'by the way I'm sorta making a joke & am smiling when I type this ... actually I may also be letting out a little laugh at the same time, in fact it could be lots of laughs, laughing out loud actually ... so don't take offence at what I've typed, it's meant to make you smile in the same way that I'm smiling'.

See what I mean?
