This is what I found when I Googled her name. How terribly sad. She was so funny and so sweet. Will be sorely missed!
On November 7th, 2006, Betty White was involved in a massive 7 car pile-up on one of California's most notoriously dangerous highways, "Highway 387", also nicknamed "Death Row" by some. At the time of the accident, she was on her way to visit her longtime friend, Mary Tyler Moore.
She was taken to Light's Way Regional Hospital, but was pronounced dead at 12:58 UTC.

this is one of the saddest days for me. Betty White was funny as hell-both on "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" and "The Golden Girls". And to think, she could have lived for many more years if it wasn't for that car accident. my God, this is soo sad. I know Rue and Bea are devastated. I know she was in her 80's but, she looked well for her age and she will surely be missed.
Oh, and if you are thinking why I did not say Estelle-that is because she is going through Alzheimer's Disease and I do not think she remembers anyone.
Man, now I am depress.

What an incredible loss. The Moldin' Girls will never ever never ever be the same. Boo Hoo.
I'm almost certain that no one will play the role of the "buffoon" quite like her, just like the production levels of the white shoe factories haven't been the same since the passing of Slim Whitman.

Very sad indeed. She was a friend to animals, a very funny lady and displayed true grace and bearing during the hard times in her life. A terrific public presence. :(
Are you sure about this? It isn't showing up anywhere else.
Well, if it is or isn't true, I stand by my thoughts anyway. When her husband Allen Ludden died, she was so graceful and kind to people who spoke to her about it. She is/was a ldy in the truest sense.
