Definitely Gary Matthews Jr. He robbed Mike Lamb of the Astros on July 1st. I was there. Being from Houston, it sucked at the time, but we still won the game. Lamb was 3 for 4 and only needed to single to hit for the cycle, but instead he hit a deep fly ball to the furthest part of the park. GMJ's catch was spectacular.

You are probably refuring to either Gary Mathew's grab in Arlington against the Astros in the regular season or you are talking about Endy Chavez's catch in game 7 of the NLCS at Shea Staduim. Ichiro isn't chinese.

I don't think it happened just once but I know Endy Chavez did something like that in the NLCS against Scott Rolen (i think). I don't think he actually climed the wall but I believe the ball was caught after it had gone over the wall!!

As with Jacj & Carlos, I'm recalling the guys on Sportscenter pretty much all agreeing that little Sarge (Gary Matthews Jr) had the catch of the year.

It was Ichiro Suzuki on an apparent home run by one of the Angels, maybe Garret Anderson. If memory serves, it was in 2005.
