It has an approximate value of 8.3066.
But be careful. The square root of 69 is an irrational number and if you are using it in a calculation you should leave it as a surd - that is sq.root 69.
The question you habe been asked could be testing that you recognise that there is no exact value.

I wonder, haven't you got a calculator? or is there something special about the square root of 69?

If you don't have a calculator to hand, there's one built in to windows. Go to start >programs >accesories >calculator. Then type in 69 sqrt. It will give you the same answer as others have indicated above.

using iteration
guess x1=8.3
x(n+1)=(1/2)(xn+69/xn)
x2=(1/2)(8.3+69/8.3)=8.306626506
x3=(1/2)(8.306626506+69/8.306626506)
=8.306623863
therefore,sqrt69=8.306623863
this is known as newton's method
i hope that this helps
