To all of you out there who called me a ******** or Idiot, I am a Motorcycle Technician and Engineer and I DO OWN a HARLEY! I just don't know why a company would add a second cam but still run pushrods. plus I've seen Hondas with 180,000 miles on the original engine. Anyone got a Harley like that? Sorry I filled so many of you out there with hate. I thought some of you might be intelligent

"Everyone" doesn't. H-D has probably the best marketing dept, ever, though.

Apparently other manufacturers think the Harley product is desirable, or why would all the Jap bike buiders have Harley clones? I ride a Harley and haven't had any problems with the technology or quality of the bike. You must be having a flashback to the 70's when a bowling ball manufacturer owned Harley and tried making them cheaper. Many Harleys of that era did have problems. Harleys of today are made by bikers, for bikers. The manufacturing process is top line and their product is the best. If you don't like cruiser styling, you probably wouldn't like a Harley. Don't blame a dislike for a Harley based on its technology, blame it on not appreciating the looks, sound and feel of a cruiser. Until you ride one, you'll never know.

Harley-Davidson is not just a mode of transportation, it's a feeling. I have wanted one since my first ride with my uncle when I was a kid, and I have had one for a few years now. I've had other brands and styles before, but since I've gotten my Harley, I don't want to go back. It may not be the fastest, but that's not a problem for me. I remember when H-D was owned by AMF and the quality went downhill. But, now they are made to stand up to anything a bike can be put through. Also, it is not owned by the Japanese.

You got harsh answers due to your phrases "very very poorly engineered", and "lake of quality". If you're going to strike out, expect a few knocks back.
There is much more to it than plain patriotism. For example, mine feels like a living animal. I get a feeling that I never got on my imports.
Some things about them have puposely been kept the same through the years, and some have been slow to change, for the same reasons. However, sequential port fuel injection is not 1920's technology.

You may be "assamed", but you should be ashamed of your spelling.

well now Harley has been sold to Japan. Everyone like Harley's because of the name, its a big bike, It is over rated and you are right it is being mass produced and now not quality, quantity. its the same reason people by Jordan instead of a no name brand of tennis shoe.Reebok and many others. My mother worked in this place that made things which were all sold to malleys, Macy's, and some other high priced stores then sold same things made to the discount stores and all they did was change the label. When people start to get smart they will see its a money game on the tag name.

hd always was overrated and they are always having trouble keeping them running. again buy a name spend more money fixing it. It is now owned by the Japanese. has been for awhile now. No more American Harley Davis anymore

evidently you are just an idiot that doesn't know what you're talking about.Harley Davidson has advanced many times in the technology department since the 1920's.If you were to do some research you would know that there bikes are very dependable and well built.I quess the government should give you a raise on your welfare check so you can try one.If you don't ride one or don't know anything about them where does the shame come from dlckhead?

Harley Davidsons represent the ideal for us as Americans. Names like Harley Davidson, Corvette, Mustang etc are able evoke in us an image, a feeling that makes our blood boil. Some people like to feel this power in their machines. Try it you'll like it!

You got me. I can kind of understand why people like them, it's just not for me.

I'm a speed junkie. Plus now that I've finally gotten the sport bike I always wanted, I have no desire to get back on any type of cruiser. They feel like riding a cow after you've gotten off a Thoroughbred. That includes my Magna.

I do not own a HD but the product they produce today is good quality. I think it is over priced, but still a decent bike. I personally believe I got a better $$$ value for my Honda over a HD but then again that is personal preference.

Well ya know, the world needs idiots. I'm just glad I never spent $20k to buy inferior technology. And the "you can't afford one" crap totally cracks me up. If you make $18k per year, HD's finance department will set you up and you'll be riding a 2006 FXDLPOS in no time.

Harley's are a big fad right now and they have that sound that they all like but they are way overpriced and not as reliable as a jap bike but each to their own.
