Why is it that when someone kills others with a gun, the immeadiant thought is to "Ban all guns today!". But when someone gets drunk and kills a family of 5 in a Mini-van(which occurs much more frequently), no one even dares considering banning cars.

Arus: You're right guns have only one purpose, that is to protect freedom. To me Freedom seems a lot more important than easy transportation.

This is a poor example. The U.S. has very limited public transportation, and many people have a fair distance to travel for work, groceries, etc. It would be impossible to ban vehicles. Guns, on the other hand, aren't necessary for people to go about their day to day.

If you took cars way from everyone, no one could get anywhere.

If you took guns away from everyone (OK, I know it's hypothetical, not practical) no one could kill anyone with a gun.

Personally, I am not in favor of banning guns but I would like to see at least the same restrictions/laws on them as we do cars.

Because the people that want to ban all guns today are not gun owners. Also, they might be afraid that they might get shot in their mini-van after killing that family of five.

The person driving drunk is in control of the car. The car is not at fault. This is a poor comparison.
