Nowadays, Lagos, Nigeria would be the best bet considering trading activities and boy is there ever a lot to learn about business of all sort here.
Although I was told by the Hausa up north that the history of Kano market in the northern region goes back a few hundred years while Lagos was just another village.

Cairo is NOT in west africa. I guess it is Abidjan or even Lagos.
