Dresses to your knees or slightly longer was popular. Young women like to really dress up to go out. Something like black oe white lace dresses. If you felt really sexy and want to flaunt it you would wearthat mini skirt to your butt:). with pany hose. Panty hose were a big thing in the 70s/80s, and really looked great with short skirts or dresses.
In the eighties long hair to or just below the shoulders was popular, and was usually in curls(long curls). Women and girls spent a lot of time brushing their hair still than for the shine and lustry look brushing acheives. !00 strokes minium was the rule even for most small girls.
Lipstick , red ; either light or dark was the color of choice. Most women (in my world anyway) like to dress nice . The wild ulgy outragious body rings and tatoos on women and girls were virtually unheard of.
Most girls wore dresses which were pleated or stood out form the body some way from the hips down. These were very sexy according to body style.
If you had the money fur coats and stoles. and gloves were popular.
Women dressed with a modern look (mini skirts, ect) but also added lace, and some old fashioned styles which really did a lot to enhance her beauty.
When I took a girl to a dance it was usually lace on night club type long dress/grown or short dress but long sleeve with either.
Regardless of what you read in the news media womena nd girls did care what they looked like, and loved to dress up. You did not see many jeans in dances, but well dressed young ladies, and older ladies.
High heels were popular if you were specially dressy. But you would usually wear soemthing classy, but comfortable. Not too many girls wore tennis shoes (they were not snickers than and tennis shoes were for the most too dam ulgy for the average young lady).

In the 80's i wore my hair really high. I would always measure my bangs so that they were as big as my hand.
