Just tell them if you want too. but make sure to explain what that means because I doubt they know. Also make sure to prepare yourself with the ability to handle them not agreeing with you at first and if that happen. then win them over with your life. Your life will speak volumes more than whatever you tell them. But once you do tell them you have to live it. or they won't take you seriously. hypocrisy is your enemy. good luck. and try not to be pro anarchy either. If you are I challenge you to go to Africa where there is no govt in some places and see if its the utopia you hoped for.

Like all good habbits the fruit will begin to show and will help your choice to gain acceptance. As they see that you are living clean they should accept the symbolism and subculture (I'm assuming your into punk) as part of a larger commitment to living clean.
They may not feel comfortable with some parts of straightedge culture, but live consistently and they will appreciate thatt their daughter is staying away from many of the negative influences that affect other people's lives.

(tell what straightedge is here) its y i draw x's on my hands. i really like it and i want to continue it as a lifestyle, and i want u to support me in it.
u might hav to ad lib somewhere, but just tell the truth, and i know i sound kind of cheezy and stuff, but maybe u should copy paste the def. and print it out for your parents to have
i hope this helps.

I'm just sitting here thinking how I would respond too one of my childern coming too me and stating in no uncertain terms that they are committed too the ideals of no booze, no drugs, and no tobacco.
I think my responce would be overwhelmingly possitive.

um if its not negative or hurting, insulting people or property then you should not be afraid to tell them, however if there is something you all do that is bad or negative then you should be ashamed to tell them. YOU SHOULD NOT BE ASHAMED OF YOU YOU ARE IF IT IS POSITIVE!!! Your parents are gonna love you anyway.

Regardless of what you are, you are in the stage where you're figuring yourself out. Just be honest, educate them.

Show them exactly what it means to be StraightEdge.
After they digest that part, tell them that you are taking part.
