mitosis produces cells that are genetically identical...in meiosis, genetic crossover occurs producing cells that are genetically different from the starting cells...also...in mitosis, there is only one full phase cycle whereas in meiosis, there are are 2 full phase cycles...mitosis is for cell duplication and meiosis is cell division used in sexual reproduction
