are they just as good as the regular tampons?
I was thinking of getting the playtex ones. Are they just as good as the gentle glide ones or arent they that good. I have experience with tampons, i just dont like carrying aroung the big tampons cause they dont fit in my purse. I would also like to bring them alond with me on vacation. If i didnt use the portable ones i would use the new playtex sport ones. any advice for which one to use?

You could always switch to a menstrual cup, you can wear them for up to 12 hours and they are reusable so you don't have to carry around spares, it saves money and the environment, but the most important thing is that unlike tampons they are hygienic so not linked to all the health risks that tampons are linked to – they also offer money back guarantees so it costs nothing to try them.

There are also newer disposable menstrual cups, these can be worn for up to 12 hours as well, after which you can throw them away like tampons or you can use them again if you are in a bind – they offer free samples on their web site.

If you're talking about what I think you're talking about (compact tampons), they're the same as regular tampons. The only difference is the applicator. It's collapsed, so you have to open it back up to use it. You could also go with applicator-less tampons (like O.B.) if you want to save purse space.

the portables are wonderful...you can even find a cute little case that most people think is a lip gloss carrying case...they are the same as a tampon..when you use them the bottom pops out so it becomes the same size as a regular tampon and then you use as usual.

i use the compact Tampax ones and i love them. i always seem to smash my tampons in my purse. but feel like they are smaller then the regular ones, but hey its not that bad.

Yes, I have used them lots of times, and find they work just as well. The tampoon is the same size, it is just the applicator that is different.
