Add a code like this to the Head area of html except have path to your 16x16 ico file:

not all web hosts allow you to do this. all you can do is try it.

use any image and go here and use this tool to change it into an ico file

after you get it converted do the following.

no matter what anyone else tells you you do not need to add the tag to all of your pages to load the favicon.ico file into you browser.

all you need to do is upload the favicon.ico to your main directory tree and the browser will automattically load it in by itself

click favorites > add to favorites to save one of your pages to your favorites. then click on favorites again and see if the favicon is next to the page you added to your favorites

if not your host does not allow them

favicons originally only worked in internet explorer. now they work in the top 5 browsers and maybe more.
