My daughter's public school left a message saying that school is in session on December 17th, a Sunday. Is this legal? They didn't say why though.

Please give sources, thanks

I asked if it is legal, not your personal opinion on the American education.

I am betting they made a mistake on the paper... a typo perhaps or just human error in recording it. Contact the school to verify. Is it legal? I do not know, but I know you can have them excused for religious reasons in America. Any good lawyer can push that issue. Just as some religions do not do Christmas and are excused the day of the party, etc.

My guess is that it was a mistake, but contact them to find out.

Yeah it's legal. All the schools that have i been to have school m-f(monday-friday) it was never on a sunday. Now there is sunday school for church though but regular schools no.And there is Saturday school for things like math, science, history or to get credits that you didn't get through highschool and college students(some not all)have saturday classes to.But um this is very to the 10 power unusual. and i hope this is a mistake cause that is just weird very weird.

I HOPE they made a mistake with the dates like my school did because school shouldn't be held on a SUNDAY!

i don't know if there is a law but i know schools aren't suppose to because a lot of kids do religious stuff on that day and it's not fair to them
