If not, what can they do to you and who should use them?

they are not for everyone...talk to your doctor about it before taking anything...over the counter or not...i wouldn't take them if your pregnant or nursing or taking any other over the counter or prescription medication...it may iterfere or have severe side effects...talk to your doctor about water pills and the alternatives...

from personal experience water pills [IE, such as lasix] is used to pull the water off of your body which is called edema usually for heart or kidney patients if the heart or kidneys are failing water is not leaving the body and you have swelling, but water pills are very hard on kidneys and could cause them to fail to the extent that you would have to be on dialysis or transplant be sure to follow doctors advise and have frequent check ups for edema
