I have heard of walking, sex, warm baths, and nipple stimulation. You should only try sex and warm baths if your water has not broken... and it won't harm your baby to try and speed things along if you aren't 40 weeks yet. At around 35-36 weeks your baby's organs are fully developed and functioning (or will as soon as he/she makes their grand entrance to the world). The last four weeks your baby is mainly finishing putting on weight. DO NOT use castor oil! just as the chick above me said, it is not good for you... and can cause your baby to make it's first B.M. while in utero... causing a very risky situation. Try calling your O.B. or midwife and see what they suggest...
Good Luck!

its best to not even try anything untill you are past 40 weeks pregnant. I walked around from the time i was 27 weeks pregnant at 3 centimeters dialated. however IF you are 40 weeks pregnant there are several things you can try to induce labor. (none worked for me). Nipple stimulation, intercourse, walking, pineapple(? dunno how that is supposed to work) castor oil, clary sage oil ( mix 10-15 drops of the oil with a carrier oil such as almond oil. Rub the oil on your hands and use some lotion and massage in) and last but not least the dr can strip your membranes ( painless). CHECK WITH YOUR DR BEFORE DOING ANY OF THESE EVEN IF YOU ARE 40 WEEKS!!

i wish i knew, im having the exact problem as you!
i am due on monday and i am constantly getting small contraactions that don't seem to progress into anything.
i have tried walking & sex but they have not worked one bit......
i have heard that eating a bowl of hot curry wil help! but i am not a curry person so im not willing to try it!
let me know how u go and if u find anything that works..
also DONT use castor oil no matter what people say, it's bad for you and will only leave you wishing u never touched it!

I would recommend just lots of walking around. It is the safeset bet and i know when they induce you at the hospital they make you walk the halls to get things going..

Just try walking around. That can help make contractions stronger and its not dangerous.

Try lots of walking. Another trick is having sex....it is OK unless your doctor said "no". I did both of those to help speed things along.
Good luck & congrats :)

I wouldn't recommend trying to force labor...it can be dangerous. Let nature take it's course!
