already put plugs wires cap and rotor button on it . took the gut out of cadalistic converter has good fuel pressure and fire; timming is on and has good compresion .the injecters are clean running out of ideas help me

Did you check the compression on all the cyls.? The Ford 4 bangers had a bad habit of throwing a rocker arm off #3 or #4 cyl. causing it to run bad, spit, sputter, and backfire lightly.

When my 87 did that it was the engine coolant temperature sensor. It was running rich & loading up with too much fuel. You could have someone run a code scanner on it to be sure.

Check the automatic choke. Be sure it's not stuck half-way.
Also check for traces of water on the plugs. If there is,you have cylinder head gasket problem .Is there any over heating?
