Because humans don't usually breed for intelligence. It's usually about looks and as the saying goes, "you gets what you pay for"

We weren't bred to be intelligent. We were bred to find food and to breed some more. Populate the earth, that sort of thing. Intelligence is an abnormality.

They lead a simple and easy life, everyone likes to be like them, some intelligent people act stupid or lazy to be like them.

Stupid people have more offspring...it is harder for them to grasp how that happens...so there are just more of them around.
