Maybe instead of thinking her stupid, because the English language is hard to learn, you should look at the way you are teaching her. Her learning a language that is unfamiliar needs time and patience. Start with simple everyday words that are commonly used during the course of her day. Or the names of the items in your house. You could also write down words for her phonetically. Words that we take for granted where not all letters are pronounced can be confusing to a person who is not fluent with our English. Also we have many words that have different meanings. If you really want her to learn correctly maybe you are not the person to teach her, your expectations seem too high. I speak fluent English but learn something new everyday.

Back up buddy..You think she is stupid b/c she is having a hard time understanding English?-Reading and speaking- You have no respect for your wife. Does that mean I'm stupid if I have a hard time with Spanish? Let her take a class to learn English better. You must make her feel like crap cuz she can't grasp English..

She's worse than you? Give her a break. Her English would probably get better if you let her practice. Encourage her to get out and about and to watch English television. In the old days immigrants learned English by watching television. Now, you can watch satellite TV in your native language, read newspapers and do everything else without having to learn English.

well..in order for your wife to learn english properly (like any other skill or language) she needs to have some kind of professional english classes from a certified instructor. not you. don't take this personally, but there are classes out there for those that need and/or want to learn how to speak, read, and write basic english. please look into that and relieve some of your frustration. maybe you can even go with her to encourage her and support her. but when going to these english classes...let the teacher do the teaching.

I'm sorry buddy, but you've got the wrong definition. And unless she has a mental condition that prohibits her from learning cognitive skills, maybe it's the teacher that is the problem?? Teacher = You! Here is the correct definition of stupid.

1.lacking ordinary quickness and keenness of mind; dull.
2.characterized by or proceeding from mental dullness; foolish; senseless: a stupid question.
3.tediously dull, esp. due to lack of meaning or sense; inane; pointless: a stupid party.
4.annoying or irritating; troublesome: Turn off that stupid radio.
5.in a state of stupor; stupefied: stupid from fatigue.
6.Slang. excellent; terrific.
–noun
7.Informal. a stupid person.

They say the English language is the most difficult to learn. Maybe that's why. You must have noticed how confusing this language is. I could display many examples. But just one for now - to, too and two. All sound the same, but are different. This list goes on.... How many could I list. Be patient, the more she is exposed to, the more she'll learn.

You know your wife is not the name you call her. Try this on for size little boy. Grow up!!!!! As far as language. That is a difficult thing to learn. So get over yourself. And give her a break. Sounds to me like she soooo does not need you.

how can you be teaching her english when you don't even understand it yourself, you're not a english teacher, if you were really serious about her learning then you would pay for her to take a class and sign up right with her.....
