It's what you know, as knowledge opens many doors in this world.
And, then again, once you KNOW - it can be down to WHO you know, so that you can get a bit further on the road to your goals.

The answer to the questions would depend upon what sort of a person you are. Most of us for practical considerations would opt out for who you know option since as men of the world they know that that is what really matters in day-to-day affairs. But a live soul would refuse to squeal on Christ like Yehuda Iskaryot just because he would get some coins for it for he knows that once the few coins are spent it would be nothing but hell and purgatory thereafter. Of course it would not be the Hell of the poor Satan but our own creation and the fertile imagination adding new tortures every moment. If that is to be avoided rely on what you know. Believe me that ,as Bhavbhuti said,

The world in infinite
Infinite is the Time
Some day Some body
Will come about
Who will be a cossoiseur
And will appreciate my work.

That belief will carry you through the worst storms.

Who you know! I mean look at people in Harvard mostly who they know, they know dad, dad knows so and so and so on. It happens all the time about who you know. My friend works at a movie theater, I get in cheap or free. Or I get free stuff. My dad knows a football player, he gets the best tickets. I am not saying that it is never what you know. I just think it more about who! Good question!

WHO you know. What use is all the knowledge in the world if you have nobody to share it with? It'd be a terrible shame if you wound up lonely, less of a shame if you wound up ignorant. The WHO you know can help you out there. The WHAT you know can't help ease your lonliness.

What you know may give you a sense of wonder and piece of mind, but who you know will more likely get you a position and a piece of cash!

It's mostly what you know. Certainly who you know is a big help, but only if you have the know how to start with.

I know a lot, but I have few connections. So my knowledge doesn't do me a lot of good (well, outside of Yahoo Answers, anyway.) I say it's who you know. Because I've tried what I know and it hasn't done me a lot of good.

But then, you have to know a little, because if you're stupid, you can have a lot of connections but not get many opportunities because they know you'll f*ck them up.

Sadly, in today's society it's who you know. You see people making it off of what they know from someone else.

I've been told it's neither "who you know" or "what you know" but rather "who knows you" that matters.
