First it helps to get your equation in the following order:
8x² - 6xy - 9y²

You'll eventually factor it as:
(ax + by)(cx + dy)

Expanding that out:
ac * x² + (bc + ad) xy + bd * y²

Basically you need to try the factors of 8 and the factors of -9 to see how you can create a -6 in the middle. It's a bit of trial and error:

The answer I came up with was:
a = 4
b = 3
c = 2
d = -3

ac = 4 * 2 = 8
bc + ad = (3*2) + (4*-3) = -6
bd = 3 * -3 = 9

The final factored equation is:
(4x + 3y)(2x - 3y)

-6xy + 8x^2 - 9y^2

Firts, I would organize the terms thusly

8x^2 - 6xy - 9y^2

You expect the factors to look like

(ax + by)(cx + dy)

The choices for a & c are 1 & 8 or 2 & 4 to get 8 as the coefficient of the x^2 term

Similarly, the choices for b & d are 1 & 9 or 3 & 3

By trial and error, find values to give also -6 as the coefficient of the xy term

(2x - 3y)(4x + 3y)

you answer should be 7x^3/y
you subtract you add -6 to 8. than u ad x and x^2 and get x^3. than u subtract 2 from 9 and get 7.when u subtract the powers of y u get y^-1 u cant have a negative power. so ur anwser becomes 7x^3 times 1/y which equals 7x^3/y
