Hello,
This is a slightly personal question, as most of them are on here. But I have just started the pill and I was wondering if anyone knew when it is ok to have sex without using the condom (for me and my boyfriend, so I know he doesnt have any S.T.I's). I read through the instructions in the package, but there wasn't anything specific and I have tried finding out on the internet but haven't been successful in finding anything precise. Thanks,

You should use back up birth control ( I.e. condoms, sponges, etc ) for the first two - three packs of pills. Until your body gets used to the dosage of hormones and can adjust. Yes I said PACKS. That means two or three months. I would go with three to be on the safe side.

First, have the boyfriend get checked out by a dr. to be certain he's safe from sti's and std's. Your birthcontrol package should have told you.
If you start your pills the first sunday after beginning your period, you should be safe from pregnancy 2 weeks after being on them. This is only true if you take the pill at the same time every day.
If you start your pill at another time in your cycle, wait 30 days until you have unprotected sex (after your first period on the pill).
If you are taking any antibiotics while on the pill, do not have unprotected sex for at least 30 days after discontinuing the antibiotic.
To be absolutely certain you are protected though, I personally reccommend using a condom for the first 30 days you are on the pill.

The standard answer to this is one full pill cycle. So essentially you have to wait one month.
If I were you I would still use a condom. It is very easy to forget a pill . It is even easiera to take it at the wrong time. Even easier is to have s tomach bug and not absorb the pill you took that day. That's how my sister got pregnant. All it takes is one slip-up and nine months later junior will be knocking on your life's doors. If your guy is too proud to wear a condom you should be proud too and close your legs, hon.

First of all, I'd like to point out that no form of birth control is 100% effective, so do so at your own risk.
Second, every brand of pill is different, as is the way your body reacts to them, so there probably is no specific answer. I'd wait at least a couple weeks, but if you're in doubt I'd ask your doctor or pharmacist.

I would be extra careful for at least 3 months. Your body has to adjust to the hormones that are in the pill firstly. Use a condom for safety.

you need to get the pill in your system for about a month before you have unprotected sex. The pill only prevents pregnancy not std's make him go to the dr and be tested before you trust that he is clean of std's and don't trust him if he won't let you come with him to the dr.

Most manufactures of birth control pills say it is safe to start having sex right away, but most doctors recommend using one pack up to see how your body reacts.

Its never ok to have sex without a condom, birth control pills are not 100% effective, so why take the chance.

I would use a back-up for the first month until you have taken one complete cycle, but to make sure I would call your Dr.
