For slow dances: hold his left hand with your right hand, and put your left hand on his upper arm. For fast dances, look at what everyone else in the room is doing and copy the person you most enjoy watching. Do you any of your friends know you are nervous? If so, ask them to practice with you (at home in private) before the dance. The first time will be the most scarey, I assure you everyone else is just as nervous as you are.

Go w/ friends... shop for your out-fits together! Remember- it's just one dance out of tons to come, so even if something goes wrong, the whole point is just to have a super fun night out. If you get a date, great, but if you don't you can still have tons of fun. Don't be affraid to dance and mingle! Be sure to find out whether it's formal or casual wear! Let loose for a night!
Best wishes.

Just go for it. Find some friends (or your date) and dont care if you look like a freak. Dance your heart out it. You'll regret it if you sit out on the fun

Remember that most everyone else is as nervous as you are, even if they don't show it. Be yourself. If something embarrassing happens, laugh at yourself and go on with your night. People respect that.
Have fun! That's what it's about. Enjoy these years and live them in a way you can look back with fondness, not with guilt or regret. :-)

You lucky little ****, I grew up under the Carrie years, they will all laugh at you for telekinesis. So we stayed home and bounced the words of of Mars for fun. Sorry, we were bored and not invited. Had a black homecoming queen. Pretty cool, but they were alone, you know one black football player, one black cheerleader, the kind of thing that black people hate. They were cute and had great clothes. We were so stupid, we forgot to call you names. The stupid thing gets ridiculous. Everyone was so well dressed and the bubble but looked the same on her as anyone else.

See it all in your mind beforehand, exactly the way you would want the dance to unfold. That really helps. Please relax enough, though, to have a good time. It's just like school, but everyone's nervous. : )
