I think you need to be more precise with your question because defenders play in 3 spots, there's the RB, LB and CB.:)

Personally, I rate Zambrotta highest. He is a quiet player who has a vast effect on play and is underrated and deserves more praise. He has been consistent over many years.Second would be Cannavaro who is also great.Othar good defenders:
