That's exactly what happened to me at 36 weeks, my blood pressure was high all that. I gave them a urine sample the day I went to the doctor. They said I had protein in my urine (sign of pre eclampsia, very dangerous for the baby and mom) and they induced my labor that morning, it took forever. It was 10 am on Dec. 23rd and I didn't have my baby until 6:30 pm Dec. 24th. You might be having your baby soon good luck. One more thing, if this is the case with you, they inject this little tube where you pee pee and it hurts really bad, they use that to monitor the protein in your urine, just warning you, I will never let them do that again, I think that was worse than the actual labor pains. Hope everything turns out great!!!!

You can not help it if you have high blood pressure. I have had it with all 4 of my pregnancies and its nothing I do. So your doctor shouldnt fuss at you. He needs to do something for you to regulate it. When your at home try and lay on your left side for a while and just take it easy. That is all you can do for that. Its called Pregnancy induced hypertension. Some women are prone to get it, some dont. It has nothing to do with anything you are doing. They will tell you dont eat salty foods, etc but not even that will help. Once you give birth it automatically goes back down. He should also be watching you to make sure you arent getting preeclampsia , not fussing at you. If you can monitor yourself at home. If it gets to be 140/90 or higher that is getting dangerous and you need to call your doctor.

First of all it is good you are going to the doc. I had high blood pressure with my two last pregnancies.. hopefully not this time. I was unable to get mine to go down either. I cant give you any advice on how to make it go down. I just wanted to urge you to keep an eye on it. With my last I was in and out of the hospital getting monitored. My blood pressure went up overnight and I ended up being induced. (pressure at 158/123 scary) I know you probably know to watch for changes in vision and extreme swelling. If you are worried for any reason I would put a call into my doctor. This can be very dangerous. Good luck and I wish the best for you and your baby.

There is no reason for him to fuss at you. There really isn't anything you can do sometimes. I also deal with high blood pressure. Do you have chronic high blood pressure or is it only high when you are pregnant? That is a big indicator of why it isn't going down. Just get plenty of rest and relax your nerves stressing out over it isn't going to make it go down.
Good Luck to you!!!

This sounded like me. I ended up developing toxemia (preeclampsia) and I had high blood pressure and lots of swelling. The put me on bed rest for a week at the hospital and then I delivered at 36 weeks. My daughter was a healthy one month premature baby and she weighed 7lbs 3 oz.

I hope everything works out good for you. The most important thing is for you to take it easy.

Congrats on the pregnancy!

Sometimes you just cannot do anything! Its likely that you have pre eclampsia and you may well be confined to complete bedrest until the birth. You will be monitored very closely to make sure that you and the baby are both safe.

He might have to put you on a water pill. That might help. If it does not get better your doctor may have to induce labor so it does not turn into pre-eclampsia.
