Because people don't seem to care enough to "break up" with their friends. As the saying goes, you can never have too many friends. People have the assumption that friends are friends for life and once that bond is made, you are more or less stuck with them. However, I think more people should take time to consider if a bad friend or toxic friend is worth keeping. Think of it this way, if you wouldn't put up with it from a boyfriend/girlfriend, why put up with it from a friend?

It seems like it would be, but it really isn't. We all have bad grades, bad food, bad books, etc... all those things are supposed to be good, but they aren't always and friends are the same. Friends have bad days, bad weeks, bad months, and even bad years. They may be bad friends during that time, and it's not fair to "dispose of them." They usually bounce back and are good friends in the end! Sometimes they don't, and sometimes they're horrible friends, not bad ones. When this happens, it's a good idea to end the friendship because one person is just being treated badly for no reason. People usually keep bad friends because they think whatever's going on will stop, the friend gives good gifts, is popular, etc.
